Some Common Mistakes Involving Backlinks

Creating and embedding backlinks on the web is the most vital of the search engine optimization activities. The backlinks hold great importance as it is because of the backlinks that the website gets indexed by the search engines and get higher ranking among them. However, despite the importance of the backlinks, the search engine optimization companies often make some hideous mistakes and end up bearing losses.

•    The “nofollow” option. Link exchanges are one of the most popular and efficient ways of creating backlinks. But, this option also holds some loopholes. There are some webmasters who often cheat you after you have given them the payment to make the backlinks for you. They often after sometime or in some cases instantly, go for the “nofollow” option for your links and the functionality of your backlinks gets numb or sometimes the whole link is removed.

•    Good quality links with no keywords embedded on them is also a glaring mistake. Such links, like, “Click Here”, or other irrelevant words embedded on the backlinks make it useless as there is least possibility of people clicking the link. You should use keywords that describe your web content briefly on your backlinks.

•     Many web masters also forget or ignore to put any minor details like text link or anchor text with the images they use. they think that an image and do all that by itself. They can be right if they are only about the way people get attracted to good pictures but through the SEO perspective this does not give anything much.

•    “Bad neighbors” is actually worse than just a mistake. It can cost you more than a minimal mistake as if you embed your one-way link building on a website that has ill reputation, search engines like Google can think of it as an endorsement and can claim a penalty on you.
